Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship

The Jackie Robinson Foundation provides scholarships up to $7,500 annually to minority high school students showing leadership potential and demonstrating financial need to attend an accredited 4-year college or university of their choice.

The Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship application is available at http://www.jackierobinson.org/.
Deadline: March 30, 2012

Eligibility Requirements:

Be a graduating, minority high school senior;

Plan to attend an accredited and approved 4-year institution within the United States;

Show leadership potential;

Demonstrate a dedication to community service;

Present evidence of financial need;

Be a United States Citizen; and

A minimum SAT score of 1,000 combined on the math and critical reading sections or a composite ACT score of 22.

Additional Components:
A completed application and one (1) letter of recommendation to be submitted online only.SAT or ACT scores sent to the Foundation directly from the testing agencies. The Foundation's college codes are: SAT 4248/ACT 6570. Students will need to have a copy of their SAT or ACT scores and their latest high school transcript in order to complete the questions on the online application

The Art Scholarship Award at Miami Dade College Kendall Campus

Miami-Dade College, Kendall Campus invites all seniors to submit a scholarship application for the 2012 Art Scholarship Award.

The Art Scholarship Award will provide financial support to a successful student studying fine art or art education at the Kendall Campus of Miami Dade College.

$1000 for the fall term and $1000 for the spring term
Open to students in the12th grade

Scholarship will be awarded to students based on a portfolio.
Application Due Date: Friday, March 2, 2012

Miami Dade County Fair & Exposition Scholarship Award

The Fair is proud to sponsor a $1,000 non-renewable scholarship to one student in every senior high school in Miami-Dade County Public Schools. The scholarship recognizes and honors students for their dedication to scholarship and for demonstrating a strong sense of commitment to voluntary participation in school and community activities.
Eligibility:
· US Citizen or eligible non-citizens
· 3.0 cumulative GPA
· Planning to attend an accredited college or university or MDCPS certified adult/vocational school
· Two letters of recommendation ( 1 faculty and 1 community service related
Students return completed application to CAP advisor or designee by Thursday, February 23, 2012.

Art Wynwood Announces Dealer List for Inaugural Fair

Art Miami announces the launch of Art Wynwood International Contemporary Art Fair during President's Day Weekend 2012 in Miami

DECEMBER 7, 2011 (MIAMI, FL.) – Art Miami, LLC. is pleased to announce the launch of Art Wynwood for President's Day Weekend, February 16 - 20, 2012 in Miami. The five-day fair is scheduled to take place during Miami's busiest holiday weekend and will open with a VIP Private Preview on Thursday, February 16, 2012. This inaugural International Contemporary Art Fair will be held in the spacious 125,000 square foot Art Miami Pavilion which attracted over 55,000 attendees during the 2011 edition of Art Miami and is located in Midtown Miami's Wynwood Arts District.

Art Wynwood will feature carefully selected art dealers, showcasing curated indoor and outdoor projects, art video & new media, solo exhibitions and conceptual art. The Fair will continue to distinguish the Wynwood Arts District as Miami's epicenter where art, fashion, design and the culinary arts intersect. The following galleries below are a sampling of who is confirmed for participation in the inaugural edition of Art Wynwood.

Ringling College of Art & Design

The Lowe Art Museum is one of the University of Miami's cultural gems. It houses South Florida's largest and most varied art collection spanning 5,000 years of world art history in virtually every medium.

After being housed for two years in two classrooms in UM's George E. Merrick Building, the Lowe Art Museum opened its doors on February 4, 1952 as the Joe and Emily Lowe Art Gallery. To celebrate the Lowe's 60th year with the South Florida community, highlights of its distinguished collecting history will be featured in this anniversary exhibition, which draws from some 18,000 works of art and showcases important objects not currently on view, or that may never have been seen by the faculty, students, or the general public.

The exhibition will be divided into the three sections: The Foundation Years, 1952-1969; The Formative Years, 1970-1989; and Building the Legacy, 1990-and beyond. It includes paintings, sculpture, works on paper, photography, and mixed media objects that represent the unique, multi-cultural holdings of the Lowe.

While the Lowe has permanent galleries devoted to each of its major collecting areas, there are significant holdings that, due to current space constraints, have not been on view for a number of years. This exhibition will be a rare opportunity to showcase these objects, many selected by our guest faculty curators in their respective fields. The exhibition will be cross-cultural and will touch on all media in the collection, thereby highlighting the unique nature of the permanent collection at the Lowe.

The exhibition and its accompanying catalogue, featuring six scholarly essays on objects in the permanent collection by UM professors, will document the growth of the Lowe and its cultural service to both the University and broader South Florida communities over six decades. It will also be a tribute to the many benefactors and donors who have contributed to its growth.

Arts for Life! annually awards $1,000 scholarships to 25 graduating high school seniors who demonstrate excellence in visual art, music, dance, drama or creative writing. Launched by former First Lady Columba Bush in 1999, the program has awarded scholarships to more than 300 gifted high school seniors.

Application Deadline:
February 1, 2012 (postmarked)

Eligibility:
Students who are graduating from a public or private school or a home education program in Florida in the Spring of 2012 Application Process:
Students must submit a completed application, a brief essay explaining "How the arts have positively influenced their life" and a portfolio of work in visual art, music, dance, drama or creative writing.
