- There must be one chaperone per group of 10 students
- Cameras will not be permitted at the fair and should be left at home or deposited at the coat check at Info Zone B. Only accredited journalists are allowed to take pictures at the fair.
- Backpacks and book bags will not be permitted at the fair and shold be left at home or deposited at the coat check at Info Zone B. Backpacks and book bags could easily hit against an artwork and thereby pose a threat.
- Sketch pads are not allowed in teh exhibition halls. Students are not permitted to sketch works as they would obstruct the visitor flow.
- No touch policy! Students must be carefully supervised and instructed never to touch the artwork.
- Students should be mindful of other visitors and keep their voices to a respectable volume;
- There is no running or playing permitted at the fair.

§ RMHC/HACER Scholarship: Must have at least one parent of Hispanic origin

Art Abilities Exhibition
GUIDELINES:
1) Miami is one of the most diverse cities in the United States. We want the student artists to depict aspects of their culture (or someone else’s) about which they are most enamored. The work may draw upon legends or fables from their family’s country of origin. For example, a student may draw poinsettias which they may relate to The Legend of the Poinsettia. They may depict animals from fables from the Mayan culture such as the story of the deer and the jaguar. Also, they may draw pictures or construct a painting of individuals in their culture’s history who have been influential such as Toussaint Louventure or numerous North American healers of African ancestry such as Daniel Hale Williams, M.D. or Charles Drew, M.D.
2) All designs must be the original work of the student. No reproductions of existing illustrations, copyrighted materials, or the work of others may be submitted.
3) Any 2-D or 3-D low-tech art installation is accepted. There is no limit on the number of colors used in the design.
4) Text or lettering may be used as a part of the composition.
5) Designs may be in a horizontal or vertical format. There is no size restriction.
6) All submissions should have identification information printed clearly on the back of the artwork. The identification information must include: name of the student, student grade, name of the school, name of the art teacher, contact telephone number, contact e-mail, artist statement and title of the artwork. (See attached form)

ArtAbilities Collection Competition
- Design: A unified composition reflecting the effective use of the elements of art and principles of design.
- Media: The effective use of the selected techniques and materials.
- Expressive Content: Original and creative interpretation of the stated theme.
ART AWARDS: Each recipient of the award will receive a $30.00 cash prize. Two $75.00 awards for outstanding artwork in the following categories: 5-12 years of age; 13-21 years of age.
Parent or guardian of each child must complete the Art Work Authorization Form. This form transfers all rights in and to the art work, including ownership and copyrights, to the University of Miami. The art work shall become the property of the University of Miami upon submission to be used in such manner and for such purpose as the University deems appropriate. Please make sure that students, parents and teachers understand that once the artwork has been submitted to the Department of Pediatrics, it belongs to the University of Miami and will not be returned (Please see your instructor for atuhorization form).

·All mediums will be considered for either the printed magazine or the DVD - art, dance, film, music clips, paintings, photography, poetry, prose, sculpture (pictures of), etc. If the category you wish to enter is not listed on the submission form, please contact Mrs. Garcia for further instructions (Rm. 229)
· As stated below, all pieces are judged anonymously· Pictures of sculpture/s should be clear and crisp; please provide photos of at least four different angles: front, side, aerial and a fourth from an angle of your choosing.
· Students may submit up to ten pieces in total, but may submit in more than one category—Note: only the best of your pieces will be displayed in the magazine, and we may not be able to display all of them due to space.
· Video clips of film, dance, or music should be no more than five minutes in length
Art Club Wins Hall Decorating Contest
Friday, October 31, 2009, was the beginning of Homecoming week with Hall decorating from all the clubs around the school. Art Club decorated the art hallway, wing 300-307, using the theme, "Camp Varela". Art Club won overall Hall Decoration for the entire school.
