Arts for Life! Scholarship Available for High School Seniors

As a reminder, former First Lady Columba Bush and the Foundation for Excellence in Education annually recognize Florida’s outstanding student visual, performing and literary artists through the Arts for Life! Scholarship Program. Each year, Arts for Life! recognizes 25 graduating high school seniors from across Florida for excellence in creative writing, dance, drama, music or visual art. Each recipient receives a $1,000 cash scholarship toward their pursuit of the arts in higher education.

To be considered for an Arts for Life! Scholarship, students must:

  • Be a graduating high school senior from a public, private or home education program in Florida in 2010.

  • Submit a completed application, a brief essay explaining “How the arts have positively influenced my life” and a sample of work in creative writing, dance, drama, music or visual art.

Scholarship winners will be notified in the spring and invited to a special luncheon in their honor hosted by Jeb and Columba Bush at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center in June. Recipients are invited to showcase their arts discipline through performance and exhibition during the event as well as meet renowned working artists who will provide invaluable advice for pursuing a career in the arts.
