Black History Month Theme for African American History Month Exhibition at SBAB

In observation of Black History Month 2010, Governor Charlie Crist invites Florida students in kindergarten through 12th grade to participate in the Florida Black History Month art, essay, and podcast contests. The Governor also encourages students, parents, teachers, and principals to nominate full-time elementary, middle, and high school African-American educators for the Black History Month Excellence in Education Award. These contests are the first in a month-long series of events to commemorate Florida's diverse heritage. The theme for this year's celebration is African-American Art – A Look at Our Past; A Glimpse into Our Future. The writing prompts are based on paintings from The Kinsey Collection currently housed at the Brogan Museum in Tallahassee.
